Day 2, Part 6 - Dinner Reservations at American Girl!

As they walked in I told Sue, they have warped in to the 'other land', ha!!

All the girls!  Anna & Amanda had brought their 'like me' dolls they got for Christmas.

So crazy, Anna is nearly as tall as I am now!!  I was even wearing boots with a bit of a heel!

Sweet girls!

They seriously thought of everything in the 3 story store; even doll holders in the bathroom!

Love how, again, Kyla is looking at everything around her instead of the camera.  I can't really blame here, there was a LOT to look at!
Loving on her doll.
In case you were worried about Uncle Bob, no need, he found a nice place to rest before our dinner reservations :)

Anna was excited to get her doll's ears pierced at the salon there, since she had gotten hers pierced on her last birthday also.

Amanda got her doll's hair braided with ribbons.

Lots of hair style choices!

Kyla thought about the chair some more (and did end up buying it after dinner :)

Posing with McKenna, the new 2012 Doll of the Year.

Checking out Kaya's home with Anna.

 Love it!

Getting ready to be seated for dinner!  The girls were at such great ages, and all seemed to really love the dinner!

Bob was such a trooper for being outnumbered 5 to 1....and eating happily at American Girl Cafe!

The menu is a set price, including your drink and 4 courses.  And actually not that expensive I didn't think especially for NYC where everything was pretty outrageous!   You chose a drink and entree, and everything else was fixed.  The napkins rings were cute hairbands the girls got to keep.

Notice the dolls even have their own little cups & saucers!

The first thing they brought out were super yummy mini cinnamon rolls for everyone.

We cracked up when the waitress came carrying it out & we realized Bob had ordered pink lemonade.  So, he posed for the camera :)

They had dinner 'conversation starter' questions on the table in a box that the girls took turns asking.  Things like what animal would you be if you could be one, what was your earliest memory, fun things like that.  Kyla was demonstrating she would be a cute cat here I'm pretty sure :)

The appetizer tray for us to share.  It was actually good, especially the little tuna salad pastries & spinach & artichoke dip; the food was better & higher quality than I expected also.

Kyla ordered hot chocolate & water, and couldn't even finish the hot chocolate, it was super rich, it tasted like they'd just melted a hershey bar in her cup or something :)

Of course, you can't forget to help your doll!

Anna, Bob, Sue, & I all ordered the salmon.

Dessert was super cute too, chocolate mousse in a flowerpot with a flower, a cake cut into a flower shape, and little fruit kabob.  Kyla was especially impressed they got good watermelon in New York City in the middle of the winter, ha!

They were closing the store when we left, so we quickly browsed the parts we hadn't looked at the first day, and then headed out!

What a fun dinner!  It was everything we expected and more!

We had a beautiful walk back down 5th Avenue to the Rockefeller Center, past the Plaza again, to catch the subway.  One transfer at Columbus Station, get on the express, and we were back at their apartment.  Bottom photo is the Today show.  We didn't actually get down there early enough to get on the show, btw....I had a couple of people ask me if I was ever scared/nervous of Kyla & I being alone in the city, especially after dark, and I really never felt a twinge, even at night.  Honestly, I feel creepier going to Walmart here after dark then I did wandering around there.  Not sure statistically which is worse, but there's my perception :)
