Day 4, Post 6 - FAO Schwarz & Dinner

Next we headed walking towards FAO Schwarz, the biggest toy store in the world!  Bottom left photo, you can see the home depot in the middle?  See the orange?  I thought it was a strange location, ha!

 These zebras were $800 each!!

They had all kinds of huge, massive candy.  A Muppet workshop, where you could design your own muppet; see the eyes & nose for the lights?   And they had a bathroom, yay!!  Those weren't super, super hard to find, but weren't just on every corner either.

Baby doll nursery we visited several times :)

See the doorman behind Kyla dressed up cool?
This was some sort of super limited edition, only 10 made worldwide, Barbie foosball table.  Like armless barbies were the players.  Strange.....and $25,000.

Kyla saw Calico Critters for the first time, they had a huge display, and stayed there studying there forever, and then announced to me quite emphatically that she WAS going to be a collector of them.  They are super cute.  And super expensive!

The girls got a turn on "the" Big Piano!

 More huge lego models...

Love this one!  Not quite sure what prompted them to do this, but thought it was adorable.  Kyla &  Anna.

They had all of these specialty shop areas, this one was a rock shop.  You could use this cool machine to break open your own geode, but it was super expensive also (notice a recurring theme here, ha!)   The store was neat to browse though.....waaay better than the Toys 'R Us on Times Square we went to later.

We excited a different side of the store, to a super, super expensive side of town.  This led to an Apple Store that was open 24/7, underground.

We were looking for something to eat, and everything was like outrageously super duper expensive....we walked past the Plaza Hotel....like Eloise & Home Alone 2, "the" Plaza!

Bob found some more reasonably priced neighborhood type places on his phone, so we headed that way.  We ended up in this tiny pizza shop, we took up half of the seats with just us, but it was warm, and the food was good!

They had a real wood pizza oven, and Kyla got this huge pizza with super thin homemade mozzarella.  It was super good!

Which was a good thing, because she was super hungry!

And, believe it or not, ate the whole entire thing!

I must say that I like NY Style pizza waaaay better than Chicago style!

 My sweet girl!

The rest of us had pasta.  I tried this grape leaf stuffed with something, not even sure what, but it was good :)

Amanda warming herself with the steam from her spaghetti.

We headed towards Columbus Circle to catch our trains back.

Bottom right, this was so super cool, this guy had a spotlight and was making these amazing paintings of the skyline & stuff right there in the park!  Horse & carriage!  It was way to cold for us though!

Last picture together for now!  We had to part at the station, they left the next morning.  Thanks again to Bob, Sue, Anna, & Amanda for meeting us, we had a blast!!

Kyla & Audrie played for a while when we got back, and then went to sleep finally! I think they would have played all night if we had let them!

So I told Jamie & Rachel I'd buy dessert if they could find somewhere good that would deliver.  This was Sunday night fairly late (9:00ish) and they did!  The cannoli, chocolate cake, and cheesecake were all good, but the nutella pizza with pistachios, bananas, was seriously the best!  And I don't even love nutella and was just trying it for the sake of trying it!
